There were extensive amount of studies on barriers among women towards career progressions. This study was in conjunction to the previous researches whereby the indicated perceived barriers from the literature reviews were clustered and focused into three major groups. The three groups of identified perceived barriers were the individual and family-related, societal and cultural related, and organisational-related toward women career progressions; an indication from a Malaysian property services company. The data were obtained through a survey involving 115 female executives and assistance managers in that particular property services company and a structured questionnaire was used to gather information and data. Although there were various theories applicable to the research topic, this study applied a Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT) where it has all the relevant elements in the identified variables. Besides, SCCT was adapted, elaborated and extended those aspects in Bandura’s theory that is pertinent to the process of interest formation, career selection and performance. The findings of this study showed that perceived barriers in an organizational-related were the most significant barriers towards women career progressions. Moreover, this study also revealed that there was statistically significant different between educational level and women career progressions. On the other hand, there were practical implications where the study provides evidences of perceived barriers in individual and family-related, societal and cultural-related, and organizational related impact towards career progressions among women. The organizations themselves should be aware of these perceived barriers among women employees and provide alternative ways or solutions to reduce the barriers as they will eventually affects women’s professional development in career. This is the first study conducted locally, in this nature of an empirical study of global property services industry focuses on the perceived barriers toward women career progressions.
