Education is a societal institutions devoted to helping people to be taught to deal with change in their lifetime. Given that technology has been revealed to be useful for educational reform for learning, and that such educational reform is called for because of social changes for which teachers-students must be prepared, the question becomes one of how technology might be successfully adopted for learning in schools. Continuous effort made by the government to encourage computer usage among teachers are with the aim of producing a computer literate generation as well as responsive to the current technological developments. In line with the government is efforts to encourage the usage of computers, it is timely to conduct a research on computer usage in teaching and learning in schools. This is to gauge the level of usage among teachers. This study was conducted to measure the computer usage in teaching and learning as well as the factors that influence the computer usage among primary school teachers. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) has been applied and is fundamental for this research to determine the factors that influence the teachers' adoption of computer. Using the cross sectional sample survey method, a questionnaire was developed and distributed to a total number of 402 teachers from 40 out of 80 chosen schools in district of Kuantan. The factors studied were the availability of computers equipment and facilities in schools, enthusiasm and attitude towards computer applications in learning and instruction, knowledge and skills in computer applications and the importance of computers applications in learning and instruction. The results showed that perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use towards knowledge, facilities and attitude were proven to have influenced the computer usage in teaching and learning among teachers. The research revealed the key issues which arose included staff training, mainstreaming of ICT across the curriculum and provision of adequate ICT equipment.
