BEHAVIOR DETERMINANTS TOWARD RECYLING ACTIVITY AMONG THE PUBLIC IN SHAH ALAM


This paper investigates behavior determinants towards recycling activity in Shah Alam. The main aim is to identify the relationship between environmental values, situational factors and social influence with recycling behavior. In addition, this paper also aims to determine the most influential factor that may influence recycling behavior among the public. Convenient sampling technique and cross sectional sample survey was adopted in this study. The research was carried out on 384 sample of population in Shah Alam through dissemination of questionnaire to the public. However, based on the questionnaire returned, there were only 340 questionnaire that were considered valid and reliable to be analysed for the purpose of answering the objectives of the study. The analysis of data was conducted by utilizing Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS). The result of the analysis revealed that the pattern of public recycling behaviour in Shah Alam is still not at the satisfactory level. In addition, the analysis also exhibited that there significant relationship between environmental values, situational factors and social influence with recycling behaviour. Indeed, the finding of this study also denoted environment value as most dominant factor in attracting people to engage in recycling behaviour.
