THE EFFECTIVENESS OF DRUG TREATMENT AND REHABILITATION PROGRAM: A CASE STUDY ON OUTPATIENTS IN CURE AND CARE 1MALAYSIA CLINIC SUNGAI BESI


Drug addiction is one of the destructive phenomenons in Malaysia society and the government through its agency has implemented many drug treatment and rehabilitation effort in order to combat this issue. Currently in 2010 the government has transformed the treatment and rehabilitation program based on Cure and Care Model. Therefore, the objectives of this study are to determine the level of effectiveness of drug treatment and rehabilitation program as well as to examine the relationship between effectiveness of drug treatment and rehabilitation program towards relapse intention. Age also becomes the moderating variables towards the relationship of the effectiveness of drug treatment and rehabilitation program and relapse intention. The study is a case study that focuses on the outpatient of Cure and Care 1Malaysia Clinic, Sungai Besi. A set of questionnaire has been distributed to the sample of the study whereby it comprised of 46 active outpatient clients. This research is a quantitative method and data has been analyzed by using 'SPSS for Windows'. The findings revealed that the level of effectiveness of drug treatment and rehabilitation program was moderate and there is significant relationship between the effectiveness of drug treatment and rehabilitation program. However, age does not have significant predictors towards the relationship of effectiveness of treatment and rehabilitation program. As conclusion, the transformation of the drug treatment and rehabilitation program is still requires continues and comprehensive improvement to ensure its effective in alleviate the drug addiction problem in Malaysia.
