In 1995, Malaysia has ratified CEDAW in order to improve the status of women in Malaysia and involved in promoting and protecting the women‟s rights. However, several researches have studied by scholars shown that the effectiveness of CEDAW‟s implementation has been questioned in certain countries including Malaysia.
This study aimed to examines the implementation of CEDAW in Malaysia in four aspects of study area by evaluating the perspectives of women‟s organizations in Malaysia. An analysis has been done by the researcher among specified organizations such as EMPOWER, SIS Malaysia, WAO and JPW Selangor on their roles to ensure the implementation of CEDAW in Malaysia and also focus on the challenges faced by every organization during implementation. The result of this study has suggested the improvement in implementing CEDAW in Malaysia where the researcher found that the lack of team work between government and NGOs contributed in this problem. At the same time, the lack of public awareness on CEDAW also one of the problem should be focus.
