THE PERCEPTION TOWARDS TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP OF WOMEN LEADERS AND EMPLOYEE’S AFFECTIVE COMMITMENT IN PUBLIC SECTOR


Women are perceived to be more transformational leader. This study attempted to study the perception towards transformational leadership of women leaders and employee’s affective commitment in public sector. This study was based on the transformational leadership theory by Bass (1985). The transformational leadership theory was applied to determine the factors that contributed most to the affective commitment of the employees. The theory was applied to measure the influence level of each factor that help to contribute to the affective commitment of the employees. The application of this theory was also involve other mediating variable that might contributed to the affective commitment of the employees. Based on the finding, the correlation analysis found that all the 4 “I” of transformational leadership factor are positively significant influencing the affective commitment of the employees. Besides that, the mediating factor which is age does not positively significant influencing the affective commitment of the employees. The intellectual stimulation was found to be the main contributors to the affective commitment of the employees other than the other factors such as idealized influence, inspirational motivation and individual consideration. The multiple regression results shows that intellectual contribute at more to the affective commitment of the employees at the significance level of beta value of .24.
