THE MODERATING EFFECT OF WORK ETHICS ON THE JOB CHARACTERISTIC AND THE ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT AMONG POLICE AT IBU PEJABAT POLIS DAERAH (IPD) SHAH ALAM


Organizational commitment is related to employees’ attachment and attitude towards organization. Meanwhile job characteristic model which is skills variety, task significance, task identity, and job autonomy was used as factor that contributed to the organization commitment. The work ethics is a concept of ethics that taught the employees on the principle of what is right and wrong. The work ethics in this study act as moderator that will affect the job characteristic and the organization commitment among the police. Lack of work ethics among police will reduce the organization commitment. Many cases such as police’s low in integrity such as police brutality and corruption have been reported over the years. This study is done at Ibu Pejabat Polis (IPD) Shah Alam, 165 questionnaires was distributed to the IPD Shah Alam. The study found that the structural model is acceptable in term of validity and reliability thus can be used to measure the relationship between the variables. The study also found that work ethics affect the organizational commitment among police officers in IPD.
