Theoretically, democracy will only work with the minimum level of political engagement among its people and the political engagement in this study has been defined with three elements which are political knowledge, political participation and political efficacy. This study aims to identify the level political engagement among youth in Petaling district of Selangor. The quantitative means of data collection has been used in which the questionnaires have been distributed to 384 respondents in Petaling district. However, the finding shows that youth in Petaling district are having low political knowledge, political participation and political efficacy. This indicates that the level of political engagement among youth is remained low and it might threaten the health of democracy in Malaysia. Thus, based on the findings, it is recommended to enhance the political engagement among youth and ensure that they are politically engaged.
