FINANCIAL PLANNING COMPETENCY TOWARDS RETIREMENT AMONG THE EMPLOYEES OF JABATAN PENGANGKUTAN JALAN (JPJ), JOHOR BHARU


Financial planning is very important as it will leads to a better life especially for future retirees. As a lot of employee thinks retirement is still far ahead, somehow they will face retirement phase sooner or later. In Malaysia, there is minimal study regarding on financial planning emphasizes on retirement. Therefore this study main purpose is to examine the financial planning competency among the employees of Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ), Johor Bahru. The levels of competencies of the employees were examined based on financial literacy, individual income and behavior as the variables. Besides, this study also aims to investigate the relationship between financial literacy, individual income and behavior towards financial planning competency among the employees of JPJ Johor Bahru and to find out the most influencing variables among three variables used in this study. This study adopts quantitative approach where data in this study has been conducted by distributing questionnaires. A sample of 186 employees involved in this study. From the study, it was known that most employees in JPJ concludes that financial literacy is the most important factor in leading towards financial planning competency towards retirement. The finding also shows that the level of financial planning among employees in JPJ Johor Bahru is very good.
