EXPLORING EMPLOYEES' CHARACTERISTICS AND THE IMPACT ON JOB SATISFACTION IN CONSEQUENT OF DOWNSIZING: A QUALITATIVE STUDY AT WATERFRONT COMPANY


This paper aims to contribute a case study on relationship of Weatherford Company’s employees’ job satisfaction with job characteristic and job security as moderating factors. There are twelve employees from seven departments interviewed and the data of interview session will be analyze to identifies the job characteristic that influence their job satisfaction moderating by job security. From the literature review it found that job characteristics that influence employees satisfactions are job tenure, employees education and employees skill. This paper will identifies the job satisfaction of employees based on their job characteristic after considered the organization lay off decision made by the oil and gas firms after the falling of crudes price all over the world. Weatherford Company is one of the oil and gas firms that affected on oil and gas falling price, thus the case study is specified to this company.
