FACTORS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO WOK COMMITMENT AMONG INVESTIGATION OFFICERS IN PDRM KUALA LUMPUR

PDRM is one of the security forces in Malaysia and they are responsible for our national security. Nowadays, people are more concerned about security. People feel safe when they live in nation where there is stability and security in the national systems. Therefore, police will have more commitment and work to do in order to make sure society and citizen live in a safe environment. Police need to take care of any reformation or other activities done around their workplace. They need to ensure the safety environment in that place. Police is not only focusing on one task. They need to multitask since there are so many responsibilities and because of that, some police officers cannot cope with the duty and responsibility given to them. It will cause inefficiency in their work and commitment in delivering their service. Police officers who conduct investigative work are known as investigation officers (IO). Investigation officers who are based in Kuala Lumpur are quite busy since there are more reported cases in the city and the numbers are increasing. An IO not only does investigation work but they also need to assist with other work if there is not enough manpower. This factor may well affect the quality of their work and their commitment to the work may be severely reduced. This study was conducted to measure the factors that contribute to the level of work commitment of the IOs based in Kuala Lumpur. The survey sampling technique was used and the questionnaire was developed for distribution to 150 respondents from six (6) police districts in Kuala Lumpur. These comprised the IPK (Contingent Headquarters), Dang Wangi, Cheras, Sentul, Brickfields and Putrajaya. The factors studied were rewards; trust; physical work environment; leadership style; and workload – all this to determine the work commitment level amongst the IOs in PDRM Kuala Lumpur. The final results showed that trust is placed very high in correlation and contribution towards work commitment amongst the IOs and when this variable changes, their work commitment level corresponds.

Since the establishment of FSPPP, the faculty has produced volumes of post-graduate and undergraduate dissertations and/or theses. Therefore, there is a dire need to establish a database to manage these high volumes of dissertations and theses.
