The future of a company relies heavily on the business and investment decisions
made mostly by the company executives. Generally, in a particular company, the
power to make investment decisions is normally vested to higher ranking
executives like Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or the Chief Financial Officer
(CFO). Fund Managers are also among the people that are entrusted to make
investment decisions. This study aims to identify the factors that are taken into
consideration by fund managers in making investment decisions. Particularly, the
present study intends to investigate whether fund managers use corporate social
responsibility information in making investment decision? In addition, the current
study will also examine whether financial information, size of company, type of
industry as well as board characteristics/governance system taken into
consideration by Fund Managers in making investment decisions. Data were
collected from 72 respondents from fund management industry and other
investment institutions in Klang Valley. The findings show that there are positive
significant relation between CSR information and investment decision. There are
also significant relation between financial information and investment decision but
in an inverse direction. The findings also suggested that there no significant
relations between size of company, type of industry and board characteristics with
investment decision.
