Migration can be described as the movement of people, either within a state or they cross an international border. Migration will affect the host country in the form of cultural, economy, environment, politics, and securities, as well as diseases. This research is aim to study and analyse the possible threats to the national security of Malaysia caused by irregular migrants, second; scrutinising the effect in the long run if the inflow of irregular migrants is failed to mitigate by the Malaysian Government. Lastly, analysing the challenges in tackling irregular migrants’ issues in Malaysia. This research is solely employed qualitative methodology by using library research approach. Most of the information are gathered from library UiTM; PTAR 1 and PTAR 2, UKM; Tun Sri Lanang 1. In addition, secondary data collections are retrieved from selected printed documents and research publications such as books, articles, newspaper, journals, and PhD theses. The findings show that the flood of irregular migrants’ effect Malaysia’s security in the terms of sovereignty and the breached of border, economy, politic, and health. Those irregular migrants who were locally integrated actually is a silent threat in the long run. They become proxies and networking for irregular migrants who have relatives in Malaysia. Their assimilation subsequently has facilitated another irregular migrant illegally enter Malaysia. The competition in employment between locals and irregular migrants is getting harder where most of the local employers prefer to hire irregular migrants due to low wages payment without additional benefits. In the whole picture, despite the country needs them for development, but they are also posting an actual threat to the Malaysian security problems.
