Company secretary plays an important roles in an organization. Their roles has become more diverse compared to what is was a decade ago. Due to the crucial roles of company secretaries, MAICSA; a professional body for company secretary uptake the responsibilities to provide supply to corporate sector for professional qualified company secretaries. Despite the initiatives taken by the Institute, there is still lack of supply for professional qualified company secretaries with ICSA qualification. By looking at the statistics, it was found that the majority ethnic of Malaysia which is Bumiputera has insignificant participation into the programme. Therefore, this paper aim to analyze factor that challenge Bumiputera to participate in MAICSA Professional Programmes. The factors are awareness, self-efficacy, financial issues, academic difficulties and seeking for job experiences. These factors are tested against student’s participation which is measured using aspirations. From questionnaires collected from 200 Bumiputera students in Universti Teknologi MARA, Seremban 3 and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, it was found that only awareness, self-efficacy and financial issues have significant relationship towards students participation with self-efficacy being the most significant indicator. This model only explained 25.4 percent of the challenging factors for Bumiputera participation in MAICSA Professional Programme which means there are other factors that are significant to hinder Bumiputera participation. In addition to that, researcher believe that this research will give significant impact to institutions and company secretarial practice through its findings and implications.
