In Malaysia context, issues involving Indigenous people who dropped out from school are increasing from year to year. This is due to various factors that can lead up to this minority group dropped out of school. As we know, education is one of the important aspects in achieving the Vision 2020 so that no one will be left behind in the modern development. Hence, it’s was the responsibility of Ministry of Education (MOE) to provide equal opportunity for every one of her citizens. In this context, if these indigenous people still dropout and left behind, it will be the problems for Malaysia to achieve the status of the developed country. The main objective of this studied want to determine the most contributing factors of indigenous student’s dropping out from school in Alor Gajah, Melaka. It is specifically studied on Indigenous students who are from 9 schools in Alor Gajah. This research is based on the data obtained from a survey questionnaire that been distributed to 9 schools which consist of SMK Sultan Mansor Shah, SMK Sungai Udang, Kolej Vokasional Datuk Seri Mohd Zin, SMK Seri Pengkalan, MRSM KemTerendak, SMK Durian Tunggal, SMK Sultan Alauddin and SMK Tebong. Then, the data was analyzed using the multiple regression and correlation to evaluate and determine the most contributing factor that influences Indigenous student dropout from school. This study found that there is a significant relationship between level of income, parent’s education background, infrastructure and basic amenities and gender role influencing Indigenous students to drop out from school. Indeed, parent’s education background revealed to be the most dominant factor in influencing Indigenous students to drop out from school. Meaning to say that, the higher the parents’ education background, the higher students access to education, higher attendance rates and low drops out rates. In this context, they are also able to monitor and supervise their children’s academic progress and performance. Throughout this study, the government can make use the information to create the program or policy to solve the problem of the dropout from school among Indigenous students. In addition, the findings from the study might useful for the schools to evaluate the effectiveness of the programs held by them in order to increase the of number literacy among the Indigenous people as one of the objectives of Malaysia Education Blueprint 2013-2025.However, the findings do not generalize to every Indigenous in Malaysia and just applicable to Alor Gajah, Melaka only. Further research needs to be done to add the distances as the independent variables to see the relationship of Indigenous students drops out from school.
