THE EFFECT OF JUSTICE DIMENSION ON SERVICE RECOVERY SATISFACTION AND TRUST IN LOCAL AUTHORITY PUBLIC PERCEPTION OF SHAH ALAM RESIDENTS


Local authorities in Malaysia, provide essential services to ensure sustainability of the citizens’ living standard. The management of service recovery plays an important role in service management as the strategies apply would secure loyalty and trust of the public towards the government. At every level in the government must ensure that efficiency inclusive of fairness and just in the management of services provided to the public put into serious consideration. This is because the ability of the government to provide effective, fair and just services would reflect the credibility and integrity of the government’s institution. The study is conducted with the aim to investigate the level of trust among the Shah Alam’s residents in local authority and the effect of justice dimension (distributive, procedural, and interactional justice) on trust in local authority. The framework of the study is extent to determine the mediating role of service recovery satisfaction in the relationship between justice dimensions with trust. The scope of this study focuses on the residents of Shah Alam’s city. The findings indicate that the residents of Shah Alam have slightly low trust in local authority (Shah Alam City Council). The justice dimensions have significant influence on the satisfaction of service recovery as the findings shows p<0.005. The mediating analysis conducted also shows that the satisfaction of service recovery play important role as intervening variable in the relationship between justice dimensions with trust in local authority.
