STUDENTS' SATISFACTION WITH PUBLIC BUSES: A CASE STUDY OF UITM SHAH ALAM


INTRODUCTION. Public buses are one of the most important public transport in Malaysia. To be become a developing country, a world-class urban public transportation system is a must. Thus, Malaysia government also provides a strategic planning under UPT NKRAs to improve urban public transport including public buses. There are four main criteria had become government main focus in this UPT NKRAs which are reliability, comfort, accessibility and availability. However, the usages of public buses by the public are still at low level. Thus, this study aims to find the relationship between these four factors with the students’ satisfaction with public buses and to find out what is the most factors that influence their satisfaction.
METHOD. Data is collected through questionnaires among students of UiTM Shah Alam. The questionnaires consist of two sections of questions which are the first one, question on the respondents demographic and the second one is questions on their level of satisfaction with public buses based on the four main factors.
ANALYSIS. The research carried out quantitative analyses on this data. The researcher used standard SPSS statistical measures for the quantitative portion.
RESULTS. The most significant factor that influences students’ satisfaction with public buses is the reliability.
CONCLUSION. The government needs to continue their efforts to develop urban public buses and give more focus on the buses reliability. The public also can play role by voice out their concern and opinion how to add value on the current public bus services.
