FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE THE DECISION TO VOTE: A CASE STUDY AMONG STUDENTS IN FACULTY OF ADMINISTRATIVE SCIENCE AND POLICY STUDIES IN UiTM SEREMBAN 3


Through modernization era nowadays, Malaysian societies are more knowledgeable and heading towards civil society. The most important aspects of the citizens who live in a democratic country are to fulfill their obligations by voting during elections. Voting is a duty for every citizen and as a platform to choose the country’s leadership. However, in today’s scenario, statistics voter who are registered as voters are still low and also involve among youth. This study will touch on a few aspects that influence the decision to vote among youth. About 335 questionnaires are distributed among students Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies. It involved four courses which are Bachelor in Administrative Science, Bachelor in Corporate Administration, Diploma in Public Administration and Diploma in Corporate Administration. Quantitative analyses were carried out using SPSS statistical measures. The study found that Social Media, Political
Knowledge and Perceived benefits are that factors that influence the decision to vote among youth. Engaging in participation in a particular election increases confidence in the electoral system used in that election, and also increases trust in the body of government being elected in that election. Participating in an election for one level of government can also affect an individual’s trust in other levels of government.
