MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES AND INCENTIVES FOR EMPLOYEE RETENTION AT WORKPLACE AMONG CHARTERED COMPANY SECRETARIES IN KLANG VALLEY


The management of companies had come across numerous strategies and initiatives in improving the level of employee retention at the workplace. Professionals group also have the tendency for voluntary turnover as their needs and demands are not being prioritized by companies. Some arguments indicate that employee retention strategies and incentives implemented by companies had not been significantly improved the level of employee retention to the desired level. There is urgency to resolve this issue for better understanding on the situation and immediate addressing of potential solutions on the issue should be given the priority. This research aim is to study the level of employee retention at companies and investigate the management strategies and incentives that bring positive relationship and significant improve the employee retention level among chartered company secretaries in Klang Valley. The research focus group is chartered company secretaries who are working in Klang Valley. Based on the questionnaire survey, which is the measurement of this research, there are 121 respondents participated in this research from 300 questionnaires distributed to the respondents. The data was analyzed as to evaluate and determine the achievement of research objectives and to test the hypotheses developed for the research. The research suggested that the level of employee retention is above mean and there are two management strategies which are showing significant relationships with employee retention which are person-organisation fit and training and development. For the management incentives, informal rewards proved to be the most influential management incentive for employee retention and monetary incentives shows significant relationship with employee retention. It is hope that the research shall provide contribution to companies in improving the level of employee retention.
