THE DETERMINANTS’ FACTORS IN INFUENCING THE INTENTION OF USING FROG VLE SYSTEM AMONG SECONDARY SCHOOLS TEACHERS IN KELANTAN

In order to making the teaching and learning platform more effective and efficient, the
Ministry of Education has implemented the technology based education, the Frog
VLE system in Malaysian schools nationwide. However, the issue pertaining to the
underutilization and the reluctance in the usage of the system among the teachers has
worrying the ministry and the related parties. Basically, the Frog VLE is an initiative
that has been documented in the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2013-2025 with the
allocation of the billions of ringgits investment. Thus, the successfulness of this
initiative was depending on the credibility of the teachers in using the system.
Although this project was expected to benefit the teachers, it was not easier for them
to change from their traditional practices that have been long dominated since decade
ago. Hence, the main objective of this research is to study the determinants’ factors
that influencing the intention of using Frog VLE based on the theory of Self
Determination, the intrinsic motivation which is the perceived autonomy, perceived
competence and perceived relatedness. Besides, the unit analysis of this research is
the teachers in the secondary schools in Kelantan urban areas. This research is a
quantitative research method where the results were based on the data obtained from
distributed questionnaires. The data was analyzed and the findings show that there are
significant relationship between the factors of perceived competence and perceived
relatedness with the intention of using the Frog VLE. The findings also show that,
there is moderator effect of age in the relationship between the factors towards the
usage of the system among teachers as the significance p-values less than 0.05. This
results of this study also suggested that a holistic strategic approaches included policy
enhancement, support, and initiatives was needed to be enhanced, added, and changed
for the government, ministry and the related parties to successfully managing this
system. It is also hope that this study can contribute to the improvement of the usage
of the system among teachers.
