MALAYSIA - TURKEY ECONOMIC AND DEFENCE COOPERATION 2009-2019


The official visit Malaysia-Turkey on July 24, 2009, at Ankara is involving two prominent Islamic state leaders, between Malaysian Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Bin Mohammad and President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan is an important meeting in the Islamic world. This visit attracts researcher to study about Malaysia-Turkey relationship on the perspective of economic and defence cooperation due to outcome from that visit, which is to strengthen up the economic and defence cooperation for both nations. The researcher belief there are existing cooperation on economic and defence cooperation between both countries before this bilateral visit. This research analyses the relations between Malaysia-Turkey in economic and defence cooperation for a period last ten years before starting from 2009 until 2019. The history of diplomatic relationship, the GDP for both countries, the trading goods and agreement, memorandum of understanding for defence cooperation have been analysed on this research. To get the information, the researcher have been interview with organization to gain information. As the important member of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the researcher believes this cooperation can be great example of collaboration by other Islamic country to give impact of economy Muslim world.
