Nowadays, paedophilia and child grooming issue has become more rampant and chronic. In
recent years, there have been news on Malaysian children that were being victimized by the
inhumane sex predators. There is many factors that could contribute to child grooming and
paedophilia issue. It is undeniable that there is still lack of understanding and awareness by the
public about child grooming and paedophilia. The objective of this research is to analyse the
relationship between understanding on child grooming and paedophilia, knowledge on factors
of child grooming and paedophilia, and knowledge on impact of child grooming and
paedophilia with readiness of parents in Kuala Lumpur in preventing child grooming and
paedophilia issue. This research adopted quantitative study where data analyses such as
Descriptive Statistics, Reliability Test, Normality Test, Pearson Correlation Analysis and
Multiple Regression were utilized to determine the relationship between independent variables
and dependent variable. The research findings discovered that there is significant relationship
between all the independent variables developed with the dependent variable. The most
influential factor of this research was also identified which is the understanding on impact of
child grooming and paedophilia. It is discovered that readiness of parents in preventing child
grooming and paedophilia will increase when their knowledge on the impacts of child
grooming and paedophilia is higher. Limitations such as cross-sectional study, lack of in-depth
finding and limited model were also encountered, and recommendations were proposed to help
in further studies.
