The performance among the subordinates in an organization seems to be affected by the quality
of leadership practiced among the leaders. He/she that is practicing an appropriate quality as a
leader will definitely encourage and improve the performance among the subordinates. However,
the wrong practice of quality by he/she could directly impact the performance in an organization,
either the subordinates could be demotivated and neglected to cause them to be less productive.
Thus, four qualities of leadership are measured in this study namely sharing knowledge,
creativity and innovation, integrity and diversity of skills. Apart from that, the study is trying to
provide a clear understanding of Leader-Member Exchange Theory and Team Leader Theory. A
total of 363 police officers that work at PULAPOL Air Hitam's data has been collected.
Measurement for the study is done using the quality of leadership proposed by Durie and Beshir
(2016) and the concepts of job performance proposed by William and Anderson (1991).
However, from the result, it shows that sharing knowledge and creativity and innovation are the
only and acts as the main quality of leadership that influences job performance among the police
officers at PULAPOL Air Hitam. The result also indicates that there is no significant relationship
between gender between the impact of the quality of leadership and job performance. The
research hopes that this issue could be done from a different perspective, larger sample size and
most important to do it in a qualitative methodology to reduce the restriction of opinions from
respondents.
