Every organisations are hoping to have employees that can adapt well with the workplace
cultures and retain long in the organisation. To have an employees that stay throughout
organisation journey is one of the organisational goals to achieve the excellent
performance. However there are some barriers for the employees to adapt well with the
workplace cultures and cause to employees turnover especially in the multinational
organisation. Due to this scenario, it has created the issues on employee’s adaptability in
the workplace cultures whereby this study has focused on local employees that work in
Japanese based organisation. Therefore, this study have identify four objectives which
design to examine: (1) To determine the level of employee’s adaptability among local
employees that work in Japanese based organisation, (2) To examine relationship between
communication, innovation, teamwork and decision making cultures towards the
employee’s adaptability by the local employees, (3) To identify what is the best predictor
contributes towards employees adaptability by the local employees that work in Japanese
based organisation, and (4) To examine the years of experience as moderator in the
relationship between workplace cultures (communication, innovation, teamwork and
decision making) and employees adaptability. This study conducted among local
employees that work in Japanese based organisation in Malaysia. Using stratified random
sampling and structured questionnaires. The data was collected from 360 local employees.
The study found that there is high level on employee’s adaptability among local employees
that work in Japanese based organisation. The three factors, namely: communication,
innovation and teamwork cultures shows there are significant relationship towards
employee’s adaptability. This study also reveals that, there is no significant between
decision making culture and employee’s adaptability.
