This study aims to examine the relationship between financial literacy, social influence,
goal clarity and retirement experiences among the Muslim retirees in the Shah Alam.
The retirement experience can be defined as the transition of the adjustment after the
individuals end their long-term career and adapted with the cessation of the productive
activities that lead to the happiness well-being or vice-versa (Shim et al.,2013). The
study employed the quantitative cross-sectional survey design and survey questions
distributed through the snowball sampling method. The measurement items were
adopted and adapted from past studies and the respondent level of agreement was
measured through a five-point Likert scale. The data were analysed through regression
analysis, and the findings indicated that all items showed high reliability and validity.
Only one factor, social influence was examined as a significant variable. Whilst the
financial literacy and goal clarity were found to be insignificant to retirement
experience among the Muslim retirees in Shah Alam. The contribution of the study
leads to examination on a set of variables importance as preparation at pre-retirees
stage, to individuals employees and employers in educating their members in achieving
desirable retirement experience, for positive mental, and physical state.
