FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE ACCEPTANCE OF E-ZAKAT USAGE: A STUDY ON SHAH ALAM ZAKAT COUNTER


E-Zakat is a new term use to describe the process of paying zakat via online system without needed to go to the zakat counter. It makes the payment of zakat with the internet broadband as swift and smooth without queuing at the counter. It has been almost five years but not many of us realize on the existence of the system. From the observation, it is found that zakat online payment is not widely accepted wholly. This scenario could be seen during Ramadhan and during the year end whereby the zakat counter especially Shah Alam will be the busiest and crowded. E-Zakat is a topic of great interest in Islamic and Technological Conversion era. Identifying the factors that lead to a successful and gratifying E-Zakat for people have many positive benefits for both the people and Lembaga Zakat Selangor. Most research in the area of system and user satisfaction has focused on the application of the website. Little research has focused user acceptance. This E-Zakat could easily avoid calculation errors, convenient, more personalize and capable to avoid public crowded in the counter. This study was intended to investigate factors which most prominent to influence the acceptance of E-Zakat users in the Klang Valley and involved users in Shah Alam counter. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) developed by Davis (1989) was picked a s theoretical framework to construct a conceptual framework for this dissertation. The four factors that have been in this study are trust, computer self efficacy, perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. The statistical techniques used were descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, multiple regression and independent group t-test. The instrument utilized in this study is a s et of questionnaires based on the adaptation of the TAM model. The findings revealed the most prominent variables that influenced acceptance level of E-Zakat were perceived usefulness and trust and male has been found as dominant user for E-Zakat online usage and its hows they accepted E-Zakat compared to female users.
