It cannot be denied that, the increased number of women in the labour force particularly among married women, have also increased the issues of work-family conflict. This is due to the fact that regardless of their position and responsibilities at workplace, women remain as the main player to manage the household affairs. Work-family conflict due to both home and workplace responsibilities can hinder them from making progress in their career. In this regard, support from husband and superior as well as co-workers seems to be a vital element in order to reduce their work-family conflict.
Thus, this study aims to investigate the effects of work-family conflict namely Demand of Multiple Roles and Organisational Culture and Practices on married female PTD officers’ career advancement. The unit analysis is the 201 married female PTD officers. The location of the study is Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. In addition, support from husbands, superiors and co-workers is explored in order to investigate its moderating effects on the relationship between independent variables and dependent variable. According to the findings, only Organisational Culture and Practices and Burden of Work have significant correlation with Career Advancement. Results of the moderating variables indicate that only Support from Superior and Co-Workers has significant influence, and it can moderate the relationship between Role in the Family and Career Advancement.
