Nowadays, People start to aware about satisfaction in their work and at the same time,
most of the organization try to adapt with the modern environment that bring changing
in their organization. Because of that, there is need to address the question whether
employees are satisfied with their job even resistance to change exists. Researcher has
short listed three (3) multidimensional view of resistance to change founded from
literature review that may influence individual resistance to change and these factors
are; Emotion, Cognitive and Intentional. There are six (6) objectives constructed to
measure job satisfaction, identifying relationship between emotion, cognitive and
intention towards resistance to change and at the same time investigating the role of
Machiavellianism and the relationship between resistance to change and job
satisfaction. According to the literature review conducted, a conceptual framework has
been constructed to illustrate the link between variables. A set of questionnaire was
distributed to 190 individual respondents that work at JKR Selangor, Pahang with 21
years of age and above to represents the population for this study. This study utilized
Likert-scale questions to answer both independent and dependent variables. The data
collected were tested of its goodness of data via series of tests and being analysed using
Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.0. Analyses carried out
revealed that, employees at JKR Selangor are satisfied with their work, however they
are cognitive and intentional resistance to change that contribute toward job satisfaction.
It was also found that Cognitive Resistance being the most contributed in influencing
job satisfaction. Furthermore, there are significant moderating effect of
Machiavellianism between intention resistance to change with job satisfaction.
Researcher believes that the findings and recommendations can contribute in the
research area.
